Choosing a Career Guide

Choosing a career seems like an easy decision, doesn’t it? For some people it is. But for others, they need more of a definitive career guide when it comes to choosing a career path they want to travel down. Almost all of us have dreamed of what we wanted to be when we grew up. Many don’t get to realize those childhood dreams. At the very least, they put them aside because they need to earn a paycheck. You see, not everyone gets to realize their childhood dreams. However, there’s really no reason why we have to give up on them.

That’s where a career guide can be especially helpful. A career guide can tell you everything you need to know about your dream career. That includes what schooling you will need, any special training that is required, and what to look for when trying to find a job in your chosen career field. Choosing a career guide is really a simple process, but it is also one that is very important when you are looking for your dream job.

Many career guides can be found online, but be wary when you are choosing which one you want to follow. Make sure that the people or company that has written the career guide is qualified to give advice when it comes to career paths. You don’t want to base you career decisions on a guide that is written by someone who has no experience or education in guiding someone down the right career path.

Choosing a good career guide depends on finding one that will give you objective information. That includes the bad and the good of any particular career. If a career guide you are reading says nothing but positive about a job, you will want to pass on that one and move on to another. After all, we know that every single job has its ups and downs – its positives and negatives, if you will. Any career guide that glorifies all jobs as God’s answer to the perfect career is one that isn’t credible.

We all need advice when it comes to choosing the right career path. Who couldn’t use a guide along that career path to make sure that we don’t take a wrong turn? Just take care when choosing a career guide and then take the advice that is offered to heart. Then you just might find yourself living your childhood dream working in a job that you always wanted.

Choosing Your Career in High School

When you are in high school, it is never too early to starting thinking about choosing a career path for your life. Sure, you’re embroiled in the everyday things that school is: football games, school dances, friendships, and class projects. But the truth is that high school only lasts for four years. After that, you’re in the real world, so to speak, and you’ll have to do something to make a living.

Choosing a career in high school might be too much for you to think about, but it can be made easier in many ways. The first thing you need to do is look at what you like to do and what interests you. Do you like tinkering around under the hood of a car? Maybe you should be an auto mechanic. Perhaps writing is what you enjoy. If so, maybe a journalism career is on your horizon.

Almost all of us had a dream when we were children about what we wanted to be when we grew up. Think back to that time when dreams were always attainable. Did you want to be a fireman or an airline stewardess? Does that still pique your interest? We don’t have to give up on our childhood dreams just because we’ve grown up. Consider pursuing that career as a fireman anyway – if that’s what you still want to do.

Your school counselor can be a great resource when you are choosing a career path in high school. They have access to many tools you can use including career tests and surveys. School counselors also know about available programs in certain career areas as well as schools of higher education that offer specific training for specific jobs.

That’s an important part about choosing a career in high school – what type of training will be needed for the job you are dreaming of. If you want to work in a trade type of job – such as an auto mechanic – you will want to go to a school that can give you the training you need. Some careers require more education than others, so you’ll want to decide how much time you are willing to invest in a career. If you are interested in becoming a doctor or a lawyer, extensive schooling is required, but in the end, you’ll have a strong career with lots of possibilities.

When you are in high school, choosing a career might seem a little overwhelming, but it’s important to plan early so you can realize success later in life. Having a goal is the first step toward having a fulfilling and satisfying career in your adult life. That goal setting needs to start in high school.

Job Opportunities Career Guides

If you are searching for a new job, you will want to try and find a career guide that will alert you to job opportunities that might suit your abilities as well as your specific talents. When you have access to guides that will make you aware of career opportunities in the job field that you really want to work in, you will have a better idea of what is available to you as well as where you might want to work and have the most success in a given job field.

Job opportunities career guides can show you where the hot jobs are available at as well as tell you what you need to know about those specific jobs. For example there might be an abundance of jobs in the field of web site design. A job opportunity career guide will tell you where to look for a job as well as what types of qualifications you will need and what type of salary you can expect to earn if you want to get into the field of web design.

There are all types of job opportunities out there and finding career guides that can help you along the way can be a very valuable tool towards getting you into the job you want as well as the job that is most available. Career guides show everyday people where the job niches are and what types of job fields need the most workers. Once you know where the job opportunities are, you can make a career choice that will guide you toward a great career move. Well, at least that’s a possibility!

Never take the advice in a job opportunity career guide as a be-all and end-all of job searching. You first need to realize what you are good at and what interests you. Don’t use a career guides that lists job opportunities as a way to pick out a career path. If you base your decision solely on what’s available, you will probably find out that you will be stuck in a dead-end job. You see, many people will choose a job based on what’s available instead of what they really want to do. This is career suicide. First, you need to see what interests you and then look into the career guides for job opportunities in the field that you have decided you want a job in.

Career Counseling

Are you stuck in a dead end job that makes you dread going to work every day? You may want to check out career counseling to help guide you toward a different career. Career counseling companies abound these days and they can give you direction when it comes to finding the right job for you – a job you’ll enjoy doing and look forward to doing each and every day.

We spend a lot of our lives at work, so we should be involved in a career that is not only fulfilling but enjoyable as well. When you seek out career counseling for your future job, you will get a wealth of tools that can help steer you towards a job that satisfies you personally as well as professionally.

Career counseling consists of meeting with an employment professional who will conduct a person interview with you to get to know you just a little bit better. The counselor will probably administer some type of career test to you such as a career interest assessment test, a Kiersey temperament scale test, or just a career placement test. These tests will help show you which careers are best suited to your personality, talents, and abilities.

Once you have a list of possible careers, the career counseling company will then give you more information about any of the jobs that interest you as well as information about any education or special training that you will need. They will help you find and register for any classes or training programs and even provide you with support services as you go through the process of getting into a new career.

Career counseling also involves teaching you job hunting strategies, resume writing skills, and interview techniques. When you are searching for your dream job, you will want to make the right impression. Career counseling companies are experts in this field and they know what employers are looking for. They can be great for anyone who wants to get a new job and make the right impression from interview to your first day on the job.

Career counseling companies are businesses, so they will charge a fee for their services. Often the fee isn’t exorbitant and can be paid in installments if need be. If you have no idea where to go when it comes to choosing a new career, however, that money can be very well spent in career counseling. It’s an investment in your future and one that can make the difference between finding the job of your dreams or plodding through a job you hate.

A Career In Fashion Photography

We see them everywhere, in Magazines, on the Run Way, in advertisements on TV. They are the slender women strutting their stuff or extra ordinary Beauties with their sultry looks flashing their pearly whites while wearing the newest Styles from the hottest Designers. We are talking about the fashion models of today, yesterday and tomorrow. They are everywhere we look, but who brings them to us? Their images are captures with care and precision, patience and that special look for style, color and lighting composition. I am talking about the fashion photographers.

In the fashion circles famous names like Mario Testino (easily one of the hottest names out there) and Eva Mueller (photographer for Fashion Magazine Allure) are just as sought out if not more then those men and women sauntering their way into our conscious.

High Paychecks and glamour’s Lifestyle of hob nobbing it with the rich and famous might be the dream of many young shutterbug, however it is not easy to reach the golden Staircases of the well-known fashion houses and magazines. For every one talented photographer, hundreds are left panting at the sidewalk, only dreaming about the moment that their photo will be chosen.

Here are a few tips for the novice and dreamer of dreams in getting started in fashion photography. Study your subject. You can never learn enough. Read and look at any fashion Magazine you can get your hand on. There are fantastic books on Fashion and fashion photography available. Amazon.com has a true treasure trove available.

You need one or two good cameras, tripod and a lighting system. Always make sure that you have plenty of film and batteries available. SLR and digital cameras take different photos, so make sure you find the best for your field.

When submitting your work, hopefully to give a chance you have to have a portfolio on hand, just in case the editor of the fashion magazine wants to see samples of your work. I assure you if they consider working with you that is going to be a fact.

Remember, fashion includes jewelry and accessories. Sometimes a watch from a famous maker on the slender wrist of a beautiful woman is a good fashion shoot. If you are applying for the job, be prepared to leave your Portfolio behind for an extended period of time, sometimes as much as a couple of weeks. I would advice you to make copies and have several on hand. This comes in handy when showing your work to many different people for consideration for fashion work.

In the time of modern technology, it is good to display your talent as a fashion photographer online as well. Set up a website; submit your photos to contests. Submit them to an online fashion gallery. This helps with getting your work seen and people can see what type of work you actually do and can do for them.

Assessment Test

If you are unsure of what kind of job you want or are interested in making a career change but don’t know exactly what career is right for you, you may want to consider taking an assessment test to get some answers. Assessment tests are good for career planning as they can identify some of your strengths and interests and then suggest a career path that would suit you and allow you to succeed.

There are all types of assessment tests including the ACT and the SAT which colleges use as a way of judging admittance into college. But when you are making a career change or just want a new career, the assessment test we talk about is a little different. These types of assessment tests will ask you questions about certain job situations and you pick the one you are most interested in and the one you are least interested in.

After you have answered all of the questions – usually between 50 and 100 – your answers will be analyzed. That analysis will include a list of the jobs that most accurately match your personality and abilities. For example, when I took an online assessment test to see whether or not writing was the right career field for me, I found that it was. It also said that I was well suited for teaching and sales.

Assessment tests can tell you a lot about yourself. Often, you might find that a career will show up on your list that you had never even considered. It could spark a long-buried or abandoned interest you might have had a long time ago. Once you start to realize that you have so many choices in careers, you may find yourself excited about the true possibilities that exist.

Go online and do a Google search for “assessment test”. You will find many websites that will offer these tests for free. For a small fee, they often will also give some career planning advice and more in-depth information on how to achieve your career goals.

Assessment tests are great tools in the career planning process and should be used especially if you are confused as to which career path you should take. Use them to formulate some goals and then make a plan toward achieving those goals. There’s no reason why you have to stay in a career you’re not satisfied with. Take an assessment test and start your new career.

Career Planning for the Music Industry

There are many different and diverse jobs available in the music industry, so planning for a career in this lucrative business can take quite awhile. You will want to find the niche that interests you the most before you start to make hard and fast plans. Are you interested in teaching people how to play music? Do you want to become a recording artist yourself? How about operating your own recording studio?

You can also become a music promoter for artists and bands. There’s no doubt that the music industry holds an exciting prospect of having a career that can and just might make you famous, but before you jump in, you must do some serious career planning first.

Start your career planning by doing some research into jobs that are available within the music industry and see what part of the field interests you the most. Once you find a field that is appealing to you, do some research about what is entailed with the job you are interested in and know what you are getting yourself into. After that, you can start planning your career for the music industry with your eyes wide open.

Each different aspect of the music industry involves different training and experience. Just because you’ve played the guitar since you were 10 doesn’t make you qualified to be a guitar expert. You’ll need training as well as experience before you can start advising others. Of course, if you have natural talent to become a performance artist, that ability is innate, but you’ll still have to market yourself in the process. But that’s an entirely different topic.

You might want to begin planning your career in the music industry by doing an internship someplace that will give you an idea of what’s involved in the “biz”. If you are in school pursuing a music career, the college can often direct you to places where you can help out and gain experience at the same time. You might find out that being a music marketer is just not up your alley, but being a board operator really interests you. You see, it’s very important to find your niche in this very competitive market before you jump in with both feet.

Planning a career in the music industry is an interesting and exciting proposition. It can be a great field to work in – one with daily excitement as well as daily challenges. Planning for a career in the music industry, however, requires extensive research into job fields and fitting in where you can succeed and become satisfied in your job.

Career Interest Assessment Test

If you are thinking of changing your career or just don’t know which way you want to go in the first place, you may want to take a career interest assessment test to help direct you. Choosing the right career is an important decision, so you want to choose wisely. We spend a majority of our time at our jobs, so being in a career that interests you is important. A career interest assessment test can help you find a job that matches your personality, your abilities, and your talents.

You might want to check with a local employment company to see if they administer career interest assessment tests. They specialize in matching people with the right job for them, so chances are very good that they have this type of tool at their disposal and will be happy to have you take the test. They can then also help you find the job of your dreams based on the results of your career interest assessment test.

There are also a lot of career interest assessment tests available online that can be taken for free. The test usually consists of fifty to one hundred questions and usually takes about twenty minutes to complete. With the online tests, you are usually presented with three different job task options. Here’s an example:

Would you rather:

Write a business plan

Participate in a brainstorming session

Formulate a company budget

You will pick the option that interests you the most and the one that interests you the least leaving one of the options blank. What these questions on a career interest assessment test do is find out what type of job that would fit best with what you like to do. When you like what you do, your job becomes less work and more fun which is great all the way around!

After you complete the test, you will be given a list of jobs and careers that might suit you. There will usually also be a brief description of what those jobs entail as far as job duties and expectations as well as educational or special training requirements you’ll need to get into that career field.

Taking a career interest assessment test is a great way to find out what job or career is best suited to you. Many people think they would enjoy doing one job when they really aren’t a good match for that job. That’s why there are a lot of workers that look at their jobs as tedious instead of enjoyable. You should enjoy going to work each day, so taking a career interest assessment test can help you find a career that will not only satisfy you personally, but professionally as well.

It can also tell you what type of schooling and/or special training you will need to get into that job field. That will help greatly when you are planning your career goals – which you should do as soon as possible.

Career guides are meant to lead you into the career path that you think you might be best suited for. Nursing career guides abound in many places and they can help show you the many different nursing jobs that will help you realize your dream of becoming a nursing professional.

A lot of times, you can find nursing career guides on the Internet and many of them are quite credible. However, when you are reading guides that you find on the Internet, be sure that they are written by professionals who have the credentials to write about what you want information about. Anyone can write a book about a specific subject.

After all, the information is out there, and they don’t even have to really know what they are talking about to write that book. If you are looking for a nursing career guide, be confident that the person who has written it is a certified professional who can truly guide you in the direction you want to go in your career.

Nursing as a profession is a great career path. You will want to find a nursing career guide that outlines all of the different nursing jobs available along with what types of schooling is required for you to do the job. If you want to be a certified nurse’s assistant, you will need the least amount of schooling than if you want to be a licensed registered nurse. A good nursing career guide will tell you all about what is required of you in each position along with what type of job duties you can expect to do in that job.

You can have a very fulfilling and very successful career in the nursing industry if you have the right guidance. There can even be people who can be guides for you in your nursing career. Career Development Center

When you are working in a career that you want to succeed in, going to a career development center is a great way to take steps toward advancing in your job. A career development center is a place where you can go to get advice about your career and get tools to help you. They are most often affiliated with colleges or universities and offer many ways for you to get what you need to advance your career and succeed in your job.

One of the primary things a career development center does is help guide you toward a career that you can be successful in. They will give you a career interest test that will help match you with a career that fits your personality, abilities, and talents. These tests present you with a list of options based on answers to questions that are on the test. They will ask about what job tasks you prefer doing and then formulate a list of possible careers that you can be good at.

Then, the career development center will help you devise a plan to get the necessary training and education to get a job in the career you choose. They will tell you about job openings in the field, what types of jobs are available and how to go about getting into that career. Career development is just as important as choosing a career since you don’t always want to remain stagnant in your career. You need to have a plan to follow that will keep your career interesting and you interested in your career.

Go to your college’s career development center and take advantage of their resources to choose a new career and get the advice you need.

Career development centers have self-esteem classes and show you ways to cope with adversities that might arise.

Choosing A Career

One of the biggest decisions you will probably make in your lifetime is choosing a career. It’s not something you just wake up one day and say, “I think I want to do this for a living.” Choosing a career is culmination of dreams, talents, and abilities. It’s something that should be given a lot of thought and consideration.

How do you go about choosing a career? For some people, it’s a breeze. It’s a childhood dream that has never really gone away. Others, however, are lost when it comes to figuring out what they want to do when they “grow up”. There are lost souls everywhere who toil away at jobs they work at just because they need to bring in a paycheck. For some people, this is fine with them and they make a career out of what they have to do not what they necessarily want to do.

If you’re unsure about choosing a career path, why don’t you start by considering what it is you like to do the most. Are you a whiz at computers? How about a computer technician or software programmer? Maybe you’ve always been able to whip up a mean batch of brownies. Then a chef or baker could be the career for you.

You also need to take a look at the job market and see what types of jobs are out there now. Do you always see ads in the help wanted section for nurses? Maybe you should check out your local college’s nursing program. There are almost always advertisements for salespeople. This job just takes a convincing personality with a gift for gab. Go for it, if you think it could make you happy!

One part of choosing a career is looking at your abilities both physically and mentally. If you hate working with numbers, then you’ll want to steer clear of the financial world. But if you’ve always been good doing other people’s hair and nails, check out cosmetology as a career path.

If you can’t perform the job to the best of your abilities, you are going to be disappointed. So don’t try to get into a career that will limit you. Always look for places where you can advance beyond the starting position you begin at. There are many company presidents in the business world who truly did start in the mailroom and worked their way up the corporate ladder.

Choosing a career is a big decision, so do it with care, but do it with excitement as well. You could be starting a new phase of your life and it could be the best part ever!
